Following the Footsteps of St. Paul

Posted 2017-12-22 by @saintmichaelyyc

Join Fr. John on a pilgrimage next Fall in Greece, retracing the steps of St. Paul’s missionary journeys.

Ordained in 2008, I will be celebrating my 10th anniversary of priestly ordination this year.

It was also the year that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI called a Year of St. Paul to commemorate the 2,000th anniversary of St. Paul’s birth. Then, the Holy Father said that the time “should be used to heighten appreciation for the Apostle to the Gentiles and to his project of promoting the Christian faith and the unity of believers.”

It was a year that I made a point of encountering the life of St. Paul in a more profound way: a man who severely persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it would go on to preach him among the Gentiles (Gal 1:14, 16).

How? “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me” (Gal 2:19-20). If God could transform St. Paul in such a gracious way, maybe He can do something with me. I even went to Rome to celebrate Mass at St. Paul’s tomb

In gratitude, I will be leading a pilgrimage to Greece on Oct. 17-27, 2018 to retrace St. Paul’s missionary journeys. The tour also includes a three-night cruise visiting the Greek islands of Mykonos, Patmos, and Santorini. The total cost is $5,199 (inside double rate) or $5,879 (inside single rate), which includes land, air, fuel surcharges and taxes, port charges, tips for the three-day cruise portion, and all airport transfers. For more information, please attend the pilgrimage presentation on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 7 p.m. here at St. Michael’s.
