Volunteering & Ministries

Our Sunday Best

We are on a mission: we want to make our Sunday Eucharistic celebrations important, inviting, informative, and inspirational. And we need your help to make that happen!

We encourage you to seriously consider joining these ministries that hugely impact the Sunday experience of the Mass:

  • Hospitality
  • Coffee and social
  • Gift Shop
  • Eucharistic Ministry
  • Technical Ministry (sound, lights, slides, and cameras)
  • Music Ministry
  • Kids’ Kingdom
  • Welcome Booth

Why This Matters

Imagine this: one weekend, over 3,000 people are walking through the doors of St. Michael’s, feeling at-home and excited for worship and fellowship. Wouldn’t that be beautiful?

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian life — so we want everyone in our parish community to look forward coming to Mass. By helping in these ministries, you can help us create in our parish what Pope Francis has repeatedly called for: a culture of encounter.

I Want to Help

With over 40 active ministries, there’s always room for more people to help us build the Kingdom of God. Together, we are able to make our parish and beyond a little better.

If you are interested in volunteering for any position at St. Michael’s, please print off and fill in the information form. Once you have completed it, please drop off to the parish office and our volunteer screening coordinator will process your application. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at parish@saintmichael.ca

An altar server’s primary role is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy. By fulfilling their responsibilities during Mass with reverence, they set an example for the rest of the congregation through their full, active, and conscious participation.

The mechanics of serving can be easily taught, but it takes a certain maturity to reverently serve God in the Eucharistic liturgy. If you would like to offer your time to this ministry, please contact Michelle Conway at mmconway@shaw.ca, or at 403-278-0050.

A team of committed individuals have been involved in the Eucharistic Adoration Ministry on Fridays since 2008. In our role, we encourage adorers to sign-up and to commit time to Adoration in one-half to one hour time intervals. Our team also ensures that the Blessed Sacrament is not left unattended. If you are interested in becoming a team member, and you can commit to the regular practice of Eucharistic Adoration, please contact the Parish Office 403-249-0423 ext. 101.

Communion Ministers assist in the distribution of Holy Communion, and in ministering to the sick and homebound of our Parish. Through their ministry, they affirm the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist with reverence.

Rosary Group

Following the words of Pope John Paul II who said the rosary has a peaceful effect on those who pray it, praying the rosary leads us to see the face of Christ in others, to recognize one’s grief and suffering and to yearn to make the world more beautiful, more just and more closely conformed to God’s plan.

The Rosary Group meets on Tuesday evenings after Mass. For more info, contact Peggy at peggy.tan@shaw.ca.

St. Vincent de Paul

As Christians and members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, we are called to befriend and serve the poor by visiting them in their homes. We meet our clients in what is usually a time of crisis for them. This generally manifests itself as a request for food or sometimes help in paying bills to avoid eviction or having gas and/or power cut off.

Our role is to reach out to meet those who call on us where they are.

If you are in need of assistance or would like to contact us please call 403-249-0423 ext 122 and leave us a message someone will get back to you shortly.
