Bulletin: 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
What you need to know from this weekend’s bulletin:
We gather in His name
September 6, 2026
“For where two or three are gathered in My name, I am in there among them…” (Matthew 18:20)
As we resume this month of September our regular routine, so to speak, in terms of our programs and activities, we remind ourselves that we gather in Christ’s name. Christ Himself assures us of His presence in our midst when we gather in His name.
What we do as a Church, we do in Christ’s name. We are trying to do His will, to proceed according to His plan for us. We pray to listen to His promptings before we begin with any efforts towards building His kingdom in our midst. We don’t build our own kingdoms, promoting our own personal or group preferences. We seek to do God’s will. We have to gravitate towards the centre who is Christ Himself, the source of our unity and love.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it… Unless the Lord guards the city, in vain does the guard keep watch.” (Psalm 127)
One of the important takeaways of our ongoing renewal efforts is the priority we place on praying together before the start of our gatherings. We listen to God through the Sacred Word and reflect on what God is trying to tell us. The prayerful atmosphere disposes us to be open to God’s will and His plan for us.
We describe this process as “synodality” which means “walking together”. Shared journey. Mutual listening. Conversation in the Spirit. We celebrate communion, based on shared baptismal dignity. We participate with our unique gifts. We spread the Gospel message and reach out to others, especially the vulnerable.
Let us open our minds and hearts as we participate in our stewardship weekends in an effort to accomplish our ministries and programs that would respond to the growing needs of our faith community.
May the Lord continue to bless us with His inspiration and strength as we move forward with our humble efforts to renew the face of the earth at St. Michael’s.

Welcome back from the summer months. As we settle into our September schedules, let’s “be open” to listening to the word of God and eliminating any abuse from our lives. Abuse does not take a holiday so we must always be vigilant to see that it doesn’t crop up in our lives and we can be of assistance to those whose are suffering from abuse. Even though we may not be touched by abuse in our families, we are effected by abuse daily. We see it portrayed in the media, we hear about the atrocities perpetrated on others though war, poverty, and discrimination, and we witness it through the mistreatment of others around us (strangers, friends, and relatives). Let us humbly pray that we readily recognize signs of abuse and take action to stop it whenever we can. Let us offer protection and solace to those abused in our faith community and Church.

Stewardship Weekends: September 12 & 13 and 19 & 20
As we enter the season of harvest, we are reminded of the many ways we share our time, talent, and treasure at Saint Michael Catholic Community. On our Stewardship Weekends, we invite you to: * Explore our eight new prospective ministries by scanning the QR code on cards that will be placed on the pews in the Sanctuary. * Consider serving with Alpha, returning to Saint Michael’s in January. * Discover an existing ministry through the new Volunteers & Ministries Booklet that will be available in the Narthex. Where is the Lord of the Harvest calling you to serve? Thank you for sharing your gifts and helping our parish community grow in Christ.
Healing Mass at St. Michael
A Healing Mass will be held on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 pm in the Day Chapel. There will be the blessing of water and olive oil, anointing and laying on of hands, as well as prayers for intentions. This Healing Mass is a way for our community to come together in Christ for healing, comfort, and strength. If pastorally required, this can be celebrated every last Friday of the month. Everyone is welcome.
World Youth Day
World Youth Day 2027, taking place in South Korea from August 3–8, 2027, is a unique opportunity for young adults to deepen their faith, encounter Christ alongside pilgrims from around the world, and grow in community with fellow Catholics. This pilgrimage is more than a trip, it is an invitation to answer God’s call, strengthen your relationship with Him, and bring that renewed faith back to your parish and community. If you are aged 18-35 and are interested in learning more or applying, please contact Gabrielle Puhl at gabriellepuhl@gmail.com or click here to sign up.
