Oremus

Come and join Oremus on Monday, January 14, at 6 p.m. to pray the Vespers — the evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. If you want to join but cannot make it to church, email Heather at heathermontschilling@gmail.com.


Society of St. Vincent de Paul

2019 Theology of the Body Conference

St. Michael’s is excited to host the Theology of the Body conference happening on March 8-9, with speakers including Christopher West, Sr. Helena Burns, and Mike Mangione, among many others. Tickets are only $60 (or $50 for students). For tickets, talk topics, speaker bios, and event schedule, visit tob.calgarydiocese.ca.

Knights of Columbus

  • Charity Appeal Tickets: the Knights will be selling tickets for their Annual Charities Appeal for the month of January. Buy a tickets for $5 each for a chance to win a Ford F-150 truck.
  • Council meeting: the next Council 8636 meeting will be on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Interested in Home Groups? Join Discovery

We encourage everyone to come and journey with us through the Discovery faith study prior to launching into home groups. Discovery is a life-changing resource from Catholic Christian Outreach and has helped bring many people to Christ in evangelization settings, both in campuses and parishes around Canada. Sandwich Friday

Help us make sandwiches for the Drop-In Centre by filling loaves of bread with items such as peanut butter, ham, or turkey. Drop off the prepared sandwiches here at church by 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 18. Thanks for your generosity!


Marriage Ministry: Book Study

The Marriage Ministry invites seriously-dating, engaged, and married couples to a book study on Dr. Emerson Eggerichs’ Love and Respect, beginning on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m. This study will be happening once a month, and will take place at the homes of those who will be joining. Open House: Strategic Plan

Come to our open house on Wednesday, January 23, and see our Strategic Plan in more detail. Members of the Strategic Leadership Team will be available to answer questions, and parishioners will have the opportunity to learn more about the different committees you can participate in. Gift of Hope: A Retreat for Unemployed Persons

The FCJ Centre is offering a live-in retreat on January 25-26, beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Those who are unemployed are invited to come for a time of reflection, conversation, connectedness, and hope. This retreat is offered free of charge but has limited spots. 60th Anniversary: Youth Mass

As part of our 60th Anniversary celebrations, we’re inviting all youth to the youth Mass on Saturday, January 26 at 5 p.m., which will be coinciding with the World Youth Day celebrations in Panama. Saturday Morning Rosary & Divine Mercy Chaplet

After the 9 a.m. Mass on Saturday mornings, we invite everyone to stay and join us in praying the Holy Rosary and the chaplet of Divine Mercy.


Reel Stories: An Evening with L’Arche and Michael MacDonald

Join the L’Arche Calgary community in welcoming Michael McDonald to share his journey of filming people with intellectual disabilities around the world. During this evening, there will be a screening of a short film as well as discussions/Q&A, followed by cookies and refreshments.


Catholic Christian Outreach: February Summit

Young adults and parishioners are invited to an evening of Adoration, Confession, and praise and worship at CCO’s February Summit, happening here at St. Michael’s on Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m.


Diocesan Pastoral Care Course

Those interested in volunteering with our Pastoral Care Ministry are invited to take the Diocesan Pastoral Care Course, which is required of all pastoral care volunteers. The next course will be on February 5-6 at St. Paul’s parish in Airdrie, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $20 including a manual. Marriage Ministry Event with Bishop McGrattan

Married couples are invited on Saturday, February 9, for A Blessing for Married Couples presided by Bishop McGrattan. Social to follow with snacks, refreshments, cash bar, and live jazz music. Tickets are $20/couple and can be purchased at the parish office, or online ($21 incl. processing fee).


Creative Arts: Open House Schedule

The Creative Arts Ministry’s next open house sessions will be on Wednesdays May 1, 8, 15, and 22, from 9:45 a.m. to noon. We invite all artists and aspiring artists to come and explore art-making through videos and practice. To register, please email artwalk@saintmichael.ca.
