To forgive is divine…

As we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, let us reflect on Christ’s love and forgiveness in our own respective lives. Hanging on the cross in Calvary, Christ utters a prayer of forgiveness for the very people who have brought Him excruciating pain and eventual death: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” These loving words summarize Christ’s basic attitude towards relationships.
Let us always take to heart when we pray for forgiveness, as found in the prayer that Jesus has taught us: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us…”
Our Christian life is bound to be a journey of forgiveness. Fear and violence are to be confronted with the loving force of Christian forgiveness. Our Christian community has to be a community of the forgiven and the forgiving.
Let us consider this basic Christian option to become a forgiving person, just as Christ was forgiving until the last breath of His life. Let our attitude of forgiveness become our legacy to a world that is full of hatred and indifference.
Let our forgiveness become not only an occasional act, but a permanent attitude.

Healing Lines
“Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” Just as Jesus calls us to believe in Him even though we have not seen Him in person, let us believe that there are those around us who need our assistance even if we have not seen their pain nor heard their cries for help. Let us be open to believing that we can support those who suffer from abuse and trauma. Reach out with love to our friends and church members and be available to their needs.

Together in Action (TIA)
The Together in Action 2026 campaign begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The theme for this year’s TIA is inspired by the Jubilee Year of St. Francis. “But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’ Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.” (James 2:18) This year’s TIA also marks the final year of the financial commitment of the Diocese to the National Indigenous Reconciliation Fund, supporting Indigenous-led initiatives across Southern Alberta. Our target goal this year is $121,243, same as last year. We thank God for your generosity! All surplus funds this year will go to our Building Fund to help pay our loan.
Multiply the Hope (MTH)
Beloved Faithful: Multiply the Hope is a diocesan initiative of last year’s Jubilee Year. With the matching program, the Diocese will match any contributions to the Multiply the Hope campaign to be applied against the outstanding St Michael Central Fund Loan (i.e. mortgage). To accelerate the repayment of the outstanding balance, we would encourage you to consider re-directing any building fund contributions made (either on-line, by text, pre-authorized payment or directly) to Multiply the Hope instead. Divine Mercy Celebration
Sunday, April 12, Reconciliation: 1:15-2:00pm, Service 2:00-3:00pm.
Please join us in this Divine Mercy celebration: Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Divine Mercy praises, Homily, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Adoration/Meditation, and Benediction. Pro-Life Banner Exhibit
Calgary Pro-Life Association will present its “Positively Pro-Life Banner Exhibit” at Saint Michael Catholic Community on April 11 and 12. Viewing hours are: Saturday 6:00-7:30pm, Sunday 10:00-11:00am, 12:00-1:30pm, and 6:00-7:30pm. Parishioners are warmly invited to walk through the exhibit for prayerful reflection and to engage in meaningful conversation with family and friends about the messages displayed. The exhibit shares Calgary Pro-Life’s positive vision: to respect and uphold the dignity of every human life from conception until God calls us home. All ages are welcome.

Hike for Life
Calgary Pro-Life is holding its 46 Annual Hike for Life on May 9, 2026 at Prince’s Island Park from 8:30am to noon. Please register at www.calgaryprolife.com or call 403-243-0691. Support this important fundraiser which sends the Educational Resource Consultant to schools and groups, free of charge, to present the message that every human life, from conception until natural death, is a gift from God. Last year, thousands of students heard the interactive presentations. Help us reach even more young people this year. Come join us at the Hike for Life and/or sponsor our parish priest. Pledge sheets are available at the church.
