40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign
Wednesday, September 27
St. Michael is once again part of this prayer campaign. Over 5000 babies are killed at the Kensington abortion facility every year. 40 Days for Life is a prayerful, respectful campaign that seeks to bring awareness to the inconvenient truth that abortion kills innocent human beings. Our prayerful presence during 40 Days at abortion center’s around the world draws attention to the plight of preborn children and seeks God’s help through intercessory prayer. Will you join us? Sign up and be a loving, prayerful voice for the preborn babies who have no voice but ours. We know from the testimonies of many that these campaigns save lives. St. Michael’s day to pray this campaign is Wednesday, September 27. Please join us and signup online at 40 Days for Life. Click on the “SIGN UP FOR VIGIL HOURS” box and choose an hour or more on Wednesday, September 27. Please sign up for a time slot between the hours of 9 am to 4pm. Christmas Hamper Day
December 18, 2023
Save the date! Hamper Assembly Day will be Monday December 18th 2023. Our plan this year is to prepare and deliver 170 hampers on that day.
Each Christmas Hamper contains a week’s worth of groceries, a grocery gift card meant to purchase a turkey or other festive perishables, and a gift for each school-aged child in the family.
Referrals for hampers: Referrals are accepted from parish schools, and through the SSVP intake line at 403-249-0423 extension 122. Referrals for Christmas are accepted beginning October 1st.
Please support us:
Volunteer! Many hands will be needed in the days leading up to and on Hamper Day. Watch for our sign-up session on the weekend of November 18/19; and November 25/26. Further information about volunteer requirements is available from our Parish Volunteer Coordinator, Marvin Matthews. firstname.lastname@example.org
Join the Organizing Committee! Our initial meeting is Tuesday September 19th at 7 pm at the church. Please contact Colleen at email@example.com to confirm attendance and for further details.
Food Donations: Christmas Hampers contain a standard list of goods and quantities, purchased wholesale, at a substantial cost saving. Your monetary donation helps us with this purchase. SSVP provides support to families year-round, and food donations received will be placed in the larder, for use by SSVP to address late hamper requests and after-Christmas hamper needs.
Children’s gifts: All school-age children whose family receives a hamper are provided a gift. Watch for the Angel Tree on the weekend of November 25/26, and again December 2/3
Monetary Donations to SSVP are used to support our Hamper Program, and may be made through:
- the collection box, noted for Christmas Hampers
- depositing SSVP green envelopes located in the SSVP donation bin/lockbox in the gathering area
- online at saintmichael.ca/giving
- tax receipts will be issued in Jan 2023
