Healing Wounds, Warming Hearts: A Strategic Plan for St. Michael’s

Posted 2017-12-15 by @saintmichaelyyc

Editor’s note: this is a December 2017 article that references Fr. John Nemanic as St. Michael’s pastor. As of Aug. 1, 2020, Fr. John is no longer at St. Michael’s.

It’s an exciting time here at St. Michael’s.

Drawing from Pope Francis’ words in 2013 on his vision of the Catholic Church as a field hospital, Fr. John unveils St. Michael’s strategic plan for the next five years and outlines four pastoral priorities that we, as a parish, will be focusing on:

  1. Making the Sunday Eucharist important
  2. Evangelization
  3. St. Michael’s Campus Plan
  4. Celebrating St. Michael’s 60th anniversary in 2019

Now, why does this matter? Because it involves you!

Thinking of our parish community as a spiritual field hospital, all of us disciples will essentially be the medics — bringing the love of God to others through our own personal witness. This field hospital will be our launchpad, where we are nourished by the Eucharist and trained for the task through discipleship and faith formation.

Read the strategic plan here, and watch Fr. John’s homily for this weekend:
