What you need to know in this weekend’s bulletin
Christmas Hamper Outreach
Check-in for Hamper assembly begins at 9:30 a.m. and delivery commences at 6 p.m. ALl donated food and gifts are now being prepared for inclusion in the hampers. The number of people we are serving this year has increased, and food donations are less compared to previous years. If your circumstance permits, we are still accepting monetary donations to enable SSVP to meet the many ongoing needs of their clients. All donations received before Dec. 31, 2017 will be provided with a tax receipt in mid-February 2018. Donations can be dropped in the SSVP donations box or in the weekly collection.
Poinsettias in Memory of a Loved One
Parishioners are invited to decorate the church environment this Chrismas by purchasing a poinsettia in memory of a loved one. Forms, which are available at the Gathering Area, must be completed and dropped off in the weekend’s collection basket or at the Parish Office by Wednesday, Dec. 20. Cost: $30/poinsettia
Hospitality and Eucharistic Ministry Christmas Sign up
Hospitality Ministers: sign up sheets for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day can be found at the gathering area. For Eucharistic Ministers: sign up sheets are in the Sacristy. At this time, we request those signing up to be registered Hospitality and Eucharistic Ministers.
We’re Hiring: Full Time Custodian
St. Michael currently has an opening for a full time permanent custodial position. Schedule: 40-hour work week from Wed-Sun (7 a.m.-3 p.m.) with Mondays and Tuesdays off. More at www.saintmichael.ca/employment.
Sacraments Registration Deadline
Registration deadline for Confirmation (Grades 6 and up) with Bishop McGrattan on Sunday, May 6, 2018 is Monday, Jan. 8, while the deadline for the combined Reconciliation/First Communion is on Monday, Jan. 15. Grief Share Program
Have you or someone you know lost a loved one recently? The Grief Support Ministry invites you to Grief Share: an 8-week program happening Monday evenings beginning Jan. 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sessions consist of a video seminar, group support discussions, and a personal workbook. Free-will giving of $10 for the booklet. Please register at the Parish Office at 403-249-0423 ext. 101
Stocking Tree
Fill a pair of warm socks with essentials for daily living, such as underwear, mitts, gloves, toques, Kleenex packets, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, bandages, shampoo, razors, shaving cream and, if you have room, candy bars. Hang the stockings on the Stocking Tree inside the Sanctuary. These stockings will be delivered to the Drop-In Centre for their guests at Christmas.

Hockey Helmet Donation

2017 Tax Receipted Contributions
Please note that according to CRA regulations and Diocesan policy, any contributions receipted for the year 2017 must be received by the parish in the year 2017. To ensure that we are following CRA reuglations, any contributions dated for 2017 but received on or after Jan. 1, 2018 will be posted to the 2018 tax year.
