Business Manager at St Michael’s
St. Michael’s is looking for a full-time business manager to oversee the efficient management of the business office and operations of St. Michael’s Catholic Community. Diocesan Pastoral Care Course
Those interested in volunteering with our Pastoral Care Ministry are invited to take the Diocesan Pastoral Care Course, which is required of all pastoral care volunteers. The next course will be on February 5-6 at St. Paul’s parish in Airdrie, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $20 including a manual. Marriage Ministry Event with Bishop McGrattan
Married couples are invited on Saturday, February 9, for A Blessing for Married Couples presided by Bishop McGrattan. Social to follow with snacks, refreshments, cash bar, and live jazz music. Tickets are $20/couple and can be purchased at the parish office, or online ($21 incl. processing fee).
Come and join Oremus on Monday, February 11 at 6 p.m. (and every 2nd Monday of the month) to pray the Vespers, the evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. If you want to join but cannot make it to church, email Heather at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Knights of Columbus
Charity Appeal Tickets: the Knights will be selling tickets for their Annual Charities Appeal after the weekend Masses. Buy a ticket for $5 each for a chance to win a Ford F-150 truck.
Moms and Tots
- As if parenting one or two children wasn’t difficult enough, try parenting eight! Join us on Friday, February 8 at 9:30 a.m. and hear from Hope White (one of our parishioners), who will be speaking about parenting, faith, and raising her eight kids. There will be coffee and Q&A.
- We are in need of babysitters on Friday, February 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. If you have your paperwork in order (police check, code of conduct, and volunteer info form), please contact Marvin at email@example.com.
Expression of Interest (EOI) for New & Current Committees
Thanks to all who attended our Open House last January 27 to learn more about shaping our future. Missed the Open House? Stop by the display this weekend (or next weekend after Mass) and chat with the parish leaders who participated in developing our Mission and Vision. You will learn about our plan which includes a number of goals, including establishing eight new and renewed committees — committees that need your talent, energy, and experience. If you’re interested in shaping the future of St. Michael’s, we are excited to have you: please let us know by completing an Expression of Interest at saintmichael.ca/vision or by completing the attached form in the back of the bulletin. Deadline to submit an EOI is Sunday, February 10.
Catholic Women’s League Fundraiser
The CWL is raising funds for their annual National Convention hosted this year in Calgary. Parishioners are welcome to purchase fish and meat products after Mass. Deadline to place orders is Tuesday, February 12, with delivery on Tuesday, February 26 — just in time for Lent! Spa packages are also available for that special someone for Mother’s Day. Calgary Visit of Cardinal Urosa
Cardinal Jorge Urosa, Archbishop Emeritus of Caracas, Venezuela, will be visiting St. Michael’s on the weekend of March 9-10 sharing his message of hope: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35). Join us on Saturday, March 9 at the 5 p.m. Mass which will be concelebrated by Bishop McGrattan in English, or on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. for Mass in Spanish. Spirit of Truth Prayer Group
The Spirit of Truth prayer group provides an intimate way to nurture your relationship with Jesus through praise and worship, Scripture reflection, and faith enrichment contemplation, strengthening you as a disciple and a medic. Experience the fruits of the Holy Spirit by joining us in the Day Chapel on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
St. Michael’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul Turns 25
This year, the Society celebrates 185 years since its founding in 1834 by a group of young university students in Paris. Today, the society serves in 159 different countries. Here at St. Michael’s our own conference celebrates 25 years of service to the poor since its inception on January 12, 1994. We thank everyone in our parish community for your continued support.
