What you need to know from this weekend’s bulletin:
His Kingdom Come!

The French philosopher, Blaise Pascal, classifies reality in three orders. These orders, according to their increasing importance and value, are: the order of body (which includes visible things, money, and politics), the order of mind (which includes knowledge, understanding, and artistic talent) and the order of charity (which includes love, wisdom, and grace). The second order is infinitely higher than the first one. The third order is infinitely superior to the two other orders.
Christ’s kingship belongs more to the last order of charity. His kingdom was totally of a different order and reality. In today’s gospel, Jesus speaks to Pilate with a mastery and a majesty which suggest a complete transcendence over the power of Rome.
The greatness of Christ in chains dominates history and the universe. The reality of His kingship belongs to the highest order in the classification of Blaise Pascal. His kingship is that of love, wisdom, and grace. No kingdom has a power comparable to the power of love.
In many ways, our becoming church is all about building this kingdom of love, wisdom, and grace on this earth. We endeavor to love as Christ loves. He is king, but He kneels before His followers and washes their feet. He is king who was born in a stable, that is, in poverty and humility. He is king who died on a cross between two criminals to save us from sin and death. We follow His gospel values to the eternal path that will allow us to live forever.

2026 Donation Envelopes
Next year’s 2026 donation envelopes will be ready for pick up on the weekend of November 29 and 30. They will be arranged alphabetically on tables by the main washrooms. Continue to use your 2025 envelopes until the new year. Please note: you may use envelopes only for the current year, all previous year’s envelopes must be discarded.
Catholic Education Sunday
This weekend, the Diocese of Calgary joins together in gratitude for 140 years of Catholic education in Alberta. We celebrate the teachers, staff, and families of the Calgary Catholic School District, who guide students in faith and learning each day. A second collection will be taken in all parishes to support the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF), which funds enhanced learning and faith-based opportunities across our Catholic schools. A portion of the funds collected will also support St. Mary’s University, St. Joseph Seminary at Newman Theological College, and the Catholic schools of the Franco-Sud School District—all helping to strengthen the future of Catholic education in our province. Advent Renewal Diocesan Retreat (Day Chapel)
Saturday, December 6, 9:30am to 12:30pm. Coffee and muffins will be served in the Narthex at 9:00am.

This year, why not begin your Christmas preparations with a half-day Advent retreat that will renew your spirit of listening as you enter the holy season of Advent. Join Archbishop Terrence Prendergast for a reflective diocesan retreat on how the living Word of God shapes our hearts for discipleship and mission. He is the author of Living God’s Word: Reflections on the Sunday Readings (Years A, B & C), a three-volume series based on his Gospel reflections originally published in The Catholic Register, Canada’s national Catholic newspaper. The archbishop is full of guidance and wisdom that will aid us all in our journey through Advent.
Fall Fundraiser
We are launching a parish-wide fundraising sale of high-quality protein products to help support our increasing needs as a community as we continue to witness God’s love and compassion in our midst. With any purchase, you contribute to our Church’s finances while enjoying some delicious food over the Advent and Christmas period. There are over 60 products to choose from! Your orders must be placed by Sunday, November 30 and can be picked up on Tuesday, December 9 from 4:00-5:00 pm at St. Michael’s Church. Elevation Youth Group (Gr. 4-6)
Youths in Grade 4-6 are invited to join our brand new youth group: ELEVATION youth! Join us on Fridays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the St. Nicholas room for devotions, snacks, games, faith, and fun! The next session of the program is on December 19 and will run until the spring. Pre-registration is required and capacity is dependent on volunteer availability. Register by scanning the QR code or by emailing youth@saintmichael.ca. All are welcome! We are also looking for volunteers to supervise activities, help with games, and provide a small snack for the group each week. Children’s Nativity Pageant: “Joy to the World”
Our annual St. Michael’s Children’s Nativity Pageant will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 1:00pm in the Sanctuary.
Christmas Hamper Program
“You, O Lord, are my hope.” (Ps 71:5)
Hamper Day: Monday, December 15, 2025 – We plan to prepare and deliver 170 hampers.
Volunteers:
Volunteer sign ups begin this weekend. People are needed to prepare and wrap gifts, set up the hall, assemble the hampers, restock food, load prepared hampers and deliver to recipients. Gifts for Children:
The Angel Tree will be available in the gathering area after select Masses this weekend, and again on November 29 and 30. Help us by signing out an Angel and provide a child’s special gift to be included with their family’s hamper. Don’t forget to return it by the deadline to give us time to prepare it for inclusion with the hamper.
Referrals: Referrals for a hamper are accepted from parish schools, and through the SSVP intake line at 825-417-1720
Donate: We provide this program only through the generous financial support of our parishioners. Donations may be made: *the collection box, noted for Christmas Hampers, *online by clicking here. Tax receipts will be issued in Jan 2026.

Elevator Upgrade
Work on an elevator upgrade is underway and has been extended to November 28. The elevator will be taken out of service until this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Together in Action (TIA)
This year’s goal is $121,243 and currently, we have reached 73% of this target amount. Thanks to your generosity, we reached this target amount last year. All surplus funds will go to our Building Fund to help pay our loan.
