What you need to know from this weekend’s bulletin:
Catholic Women’s League
- Membership drive: this weekend (January 19-20), CWL members will be available in the gathering area after Mass for their membership drive. All women ages 16 and older are encouraged to join. To learn more about the CWL, visit saintmichael.ca/CWL.
- Fish Friday Fundraiser: beginning this weekend, the CWL will have their Fish Friday fundraiser. Parishioners will be able to buy fish and meat products after Mass to help support as many CWL members attend the National Convention this summer. Deadline to place orders is February 12, with delivery on February 25-26 — just in time for Lent! Look for the CWL table in the gathering area.
Knights of Columbus
- Charity Appeal Tickets: the Knights will be selling tickets for their Annual Charities Appeal for the month of January. Buy
a tickets for $5 each for a chance to win a Ford F-150 truck.
Expression of Interest (EOI) for New & Current Committees
If you’re interested in joining one of the committees we’re launching to help us execute our parish Strategic Plan, you can fill out the Expression of Interest form attached with this weekend’s bulletin, or at saintmichael.ca/vision.
Knitting Ministry
Calling all knitters: our next get-together will be on Wednesday, January 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, and then every second week after. If there’s a project that you’re working on, please bring it with you. For more info, contact Carol at 403-282-6469.
Open House: Strategic Plan

60th Anniversary: Youth Mass
As part of our 60th Anniversary celebrations, we’re inviting all youth to the youth Mass on Saturday, January 26 at 5 p.m., which will be coinciding with the World Youth Day celebrations in Panama. There will be a fellowship for the youth after Mass, with pulled pork sandwiches from Joey’s. If you want to help or have any questions, email Nolan at youth@saintmichael.ca.
Reel Stories: An Evening with L’Arche and Michael MacDonald
Join the L’Arche Calgary community in welcoming Michael McDonald to share his journey of filming people with intellectual disabilities around the world. During this evening, there will be a screening of a short film as well as discussions/Q&A, followed by cookies and refreshments. When: Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m.

Catholic Christian Outreach: February Summit
Young adults and parishioners are invited to an evening of Adoration, Confession, and praise and worship at CCO’s February Summit, happening here at St. Michael’s on Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Diocesan Pastoral Care Course
Those interested in volunteering with our Pastoral Care Ministry are invited to take the Diocesan Pastoral Care Course, which is required of all pastoral care volunteers. The next course will be on February 5-6 at St. Paul’s parish in Airdrie, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $20 including a manual. Marriage Ministry Event with Bishop McGrattan
Married couples are invited on Saturday, February 9, for A Blessing for Married Couples presided by Bishop McGrattan. Social to follow with snacks, refreshments, cash bar, and live jazz music. Tickets are $20/couple and can be purchased at the parish office, or online ($21 incl. processing fee).
The Vanier Way
Join filmmaker-producer Kevin Dunn on Friday, February 22, at 7 p.m. for a screening and Q&A on The Vanier Way: a film on how a visit to a L’Arche community in France transformed the lives of ten high school students from Ontario. All are welcome.
Blood Drive
150 blood donors are needed for the blood drive here at St. Michael’s on Monday, February 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you are able to donate, sign up for an appointment at blood.ca.
2019 Theology of the Body Conference

Calgary Visit of Cardinal Urosa
Cardinal Jorge Urosa, Archbishop Emeritus of Caracas, Venezuela, will be visiting St. Michael’s on the weekend of March 9-10. His Eminence will be presiding over the Saturday 5 p.m. Mass on March 9 (English), and at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 (Spanish). More info TBA. Creative Arts: Open House Schedule
The Creative Arts Ministry’s next open house sessions will be on Wednesdays May 1, 8, 15, and 22, from 9:45 a.m. to noon. We invite all artists and aspiring artists to come and explore art-making through videos and practice. To register, please email artwalk@saintmichael.ca.
