Catholic Education Sunday – New
- November 1 marks Catholic Education Sunday — in a special way, we remember and keep in our prayers all the teachers, staff, students, and parents in our school community and thank God for the tremendous gift that is Catholic education. On this day, the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF) also reaches out with an appeal that will help faith-based funding for over 59,000 students in 117 Catholic schools in Calgary, Cochrane, Chestermere, and Airdrie. Blessed Sacrament Chapel Access – New
On Sundays, access to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel through the south entrance doors will be from noon to 8 p.m. For Saturdays and the rest of the week, the doors will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
ALL SOULS’ DAY: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2
Let’s commend the souls of our departed loved ones to the mercy of God: on All Souls Day, we will have Mass at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. We encourage parishioners to extend this invitation to family and friends, especially those in our parish community who have lost a loved one or have family members interred in our Columbarium. To attend Mass and submit names for our Book of Remembrance, visit saintmichael.ca/Mass.
We will also offer the All Souls’ Novena beginning Saturday, October 24, and culminating with Mass on November 2. Click here to download the novena prayer guide.
Sacrament Preparation Update – New
The deadline for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion has passed. For further information about future programming, please contact Maureen at mross@saintmichael.ca or by calling 403-249-0423 ext. 126.
Monthly Offering: Consider going paperless – New
As we are preparing 2021 contribution envelopes, we’re asking envelope users to consider going paperless and switch to pre-authorized debit for your monthly offering. To do so, click here to download and fill out the pre-authorized debit form and drop it off at the parish office by Monday, November 2. Otherwise, your 2021 envelopes will be available for pickup at the church in mid-November
CCCB releases statement in response to Bill C-7 – New
As the legislation introduced this month remains unchanged from that which was tabled on 24 February 2020, the Bishops of Canada once again express their serious concerns regarding Bill C-7 and call upon all Canadians to express their opposition to the Bill. As said in the statement: “The proposed legislation of Bill C-7 remains deeply flawed, unjust, and morally pernicious. The Bishops of Canada call on Catholics and all people of goodwill to make their voices heard in opposition to the Bill. Similarly, all Canadian legislators should recall that no law that permits the taking of innocent human life can ever be morally justified. Such a law would always violate the intrinsic dignity of the human person.” Please read below:
