Please note that the parish office will be closed on Monday, August 6 for Heritage Day. Also during this month, the parish office will be open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our normal evening hours will resume on September 4. Our south doors will remain open until 7 p.m. on weekdays for those who want to spend time in prayer in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

Update: Blood Donors Needed – NEW

The August 6 blood drive venue, originally set here at St. Michael’s, has been moved to the Hellenic Community Centre (1 Tamarac Crescent SW). To book your appointment, please visit www.blood.ca.

Come and join Oremus on Monday, August 13 at 6 p.m. in the Day Chapel. We meet every second Monday of the month to pray the Vespers — the evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. If you’d like to join us but couldn’t make it to church, please contact Heather at heathermontschilling@gmail.com.

Sandwich Friday – NEW

Help us make sandwiches for the Drop-In Centre by filling loaves of bread with items such as peanut butter, ham, or turkey. Drop them off here at the church by 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17. Thanks for your generosity!

Sponsored Refugee Family: Update – NEW

Thanks to everyone in our parish community who have been helping the Almansour family, our sponsored Syrian refugee family: we are pleased to share with you that they are now financially self-sufficient. We wish them happiness and success in their new life here in Canada. Moving forward, any continued donations will be put towards building up the Partnership of Hope fund for the next potential family.

Potluck Sunday: See you in September – NEW

Potluck Sunday will be taking a break over the summer. Our monthly potluck fellowship will resume on the second Sunday of September.

Come and hear this informative talk by Fr. Pius Harding, OSB, a Benedictine monk from Mount Angel Abbey in Oregon on Monday, Aug. 27 here at St. Michael’s. Admission is free. There will be a free-will offering to cover travel expenses.

GriefShare: Have you lost a loved one recently? – NEW

The grief support ministry invites you to GriefShare: a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. This program will be on Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning September 10, and consists of a video seminar, group support discussions, and a personal workbook. To register, please call the parish office at 403-249-0423 or email parish@saintmichael.ca.

Knights of Columbus: Roast Beef Supper – NEW

Join the Knights for this fall’s roast beef supper, happening on Saturday, September 22 after the 5 p.m. Mass. The evening’s menu includes appetizers, roast beef with trimmings, salads, and desserts. There will also be wine available for purchase. Tickets are $25 for those ages 15+ and $12 for kids ages 14 and younger. There will be 125 tickets available (advance tickets only) which can be purchased either at the parish office or after Mass beginning in September.

All grade 2 students and up are welcome to participate in the program that begins next September. Deadline for registration is September 24 for both programs. Please register early to confirm your celebration spots for both sacraments.
  • Volunteer leaders needed for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist: We need volunteer teachers for our brand-new sacrament program this Fall and next Spring. Training is provided! The dates are: October 27, November 25, December 15, January 19, February 23, March 16, April 13, May 4, and May 11. If you can help support the sacrament journey of over 200 little ones, contact Maureen at mross@saintmichael.ca or at 403-249-0423 ext. 126.
  • Confirmation 2019: Our Confirmation Mass has not been finalized by our Bishop yet, however, teens are highly encouraged to do their four (4) hours of service with The Mustard Seed, the Food Bank, or Inn From the Cold this summer while school is out. Contact Maureen at mross@saintmichael.ca for any information about volunteering.
