Labour Day and Office Hours – NEW

Please note that the parish office will be closed on Monday, September 3 for Labour Day. Daily Mass will still be offered at 9 a.m. Also, beginning on Tuesday, September 4, we will resume with our normal office hours of Mon-Thurs from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and until 4 p.m. on Fridays.


Update: L’Arche Movie Night Postponed – NEW

Please note that the L’Arche movie screening of Summer in the Forest originally scheduled on Saturday, September 15, has been postponed to a later date. Please check the next bulletin or our website calendar for updates.


Fatal Flaws: Film Screening and Q&A – NEW

St. Michael’s is excited to host a film screening of Fatal Flaws: Legalizing Assisted Death, with a Q&A on the issue by producer-filmmaker Kevin Dunn. All are welcome to this event on Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m. To learn more about the film or to watch the trailer, visit fatalflawsfilm.com.


Men’s Ministry: That Man is You! – NEW

St. Michael’s Men’s Ministry is offering a new year of TMIY: The Vision of Man Fully Alive is a brand-new program happening on Wednesdays at 6 a.m. beginning on September 5. Men are invited to join; continental breakfast included. To register, email tmiy@saintmichael.ca.


Training for New Sacrament Preparation Program – NEW

Interested in helping out with our new sacrament program? Want to know more about it? St. Michael’s is hosting a specialist from St. Mary’s Press to present a catechist training session on Thursday, September 6, from 7 p.m-9 p.m. This session will provide a walk-through of the course materials, tips on how to run the classes, and an overview of the new program. If you’d like to be part of the team or would like more info about the program, please contact Maureen at mross@saintmichael.ca.


Calling Youth: Upcoming Events – NEW

  • Info night and registration for parents and youth: Youth in grades 7-12 and their parents are strongly encouraged to come on Thursday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. for Calling Youth’s registration and info night. There will be a casual orientation about plans for Calling Youth in the coming months and faith formation opportunities for parents.
  • Youth Choir Sign-ups: Interested in joining St. Michael’s Youth Choir? Come to our registration day on either Saturdays: September 8 or 15, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Kids’ Kingdom room. Singers and instrumentalists are welcome.
  • Art Night: You’re invited on Friday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. for Art Night with Colour on Fire. All materials are provided for a cost of $5 per person. Please register by emailing Nolan at youth@saintmichael.ca.

Update: Moms and Tots Group – NEW

Beginning on Friday, September 21, our weekly Moms and Tots group will be meeting on Fridays after the 9 a.m. Mass (instead of Thursdays).


Potluck Sunday

Potluck Sunday is back on September 9 after the 5 p.m. Mass. Please bring a hot or cold food item ready to serve. Bring a friend!


Knitting Ministry – NEW

Calling all knitters! We will be getting together on September 12 from 10 a.m. to noon and then every second week after, to work on items such as scarves, hats, prayer shawls, etc, for those in need. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your knitting skills while also getting together for coffee and fellowship. If there is a project that you’re working on, please bring it with you. 40 Days for Life Calgary Kickoff Event – NEW

Join 40 Days for Life for the Calgary kickoff event here at St. Michael’s on Saturday, September 22 at 2:30 p.m. Matt Britton, 40 DFL Chairman, and Fr. Francis De Rosa will be sharing about their experience in their worldwide pro-life work.


Ministry Fair – NEW

Beginning on the weekend of September 15-16, we will be featuring some of our ministries after Mass for our Ministry Fair. Our opening weekend will feature Kids’ Kingdom, Moms and Tots, RCIA, Women’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Altar Servers (for the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass) with more ministries featured in the weeks after that. Please consider how one or more of these ministries can be strengthened by the gifts you have to share.


KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: ROAST BEEF SUPPER

Join the Knights for this fall’s roast beef supper, happening on Saturday, September 22 after the 5 p.m. Mass. The evening’s menu includes appetizers, roast beef with trimmings, salads, and desserts. There will also be wine available for purchase. Tickets are $25 for those ages 15+ and $12 for kids ages 14 and younger. There will be 125 tickets available (advance tickets only) which can be purchased either at the parish office or after Mass beginning in September.


A Biblical Walk Through the Mass: A Free Study Program – NEW

In this five-part Bible study, you will come to know and understand the Mass like never before. From the rich meanings behind what we say and do in the Mass to the words and gestures of the priest, you will see the Mass in a new light, leading to a more meaningful appreciation of the Mass. Alpha – NEW

Alpha is a weekly program exploring the basics of the Christian faith in an open, welcoming, and friendly environment. Each session includes a meal, video, and small-group discussion. Free childcare available. For more info or to register, visit saintmichael.ca/alpha.


The One Thing is Three: Women’s Ministry Study – NEW

The Women’s Ministry invites women to this study on Fr. Michael’s Gaitley’s The One Thing is Three: How the Most Holy Trinity Explains Everything. Far from being an academic text, this study makes deep theology accessible to everyday Catholics with humour and ease. Cost: $20 for the book. Photo Directory: New Dates Added – NEW

Having yourself or your family photographed for our new photo directory is entirely free, and families who participate will receive a free copy once it is published. Photography sittings are available on September 13-15 (NEW), October 17 -20 (almost full), November 7-10, and December 6-8 (NEW). To book your free 15 -minute photography appointment during one of these dates, please register online at saintmichael.ca/diamond.
