Thank You Fr. George
Following the recent Diocesan clergy personnel announcement, Fr. George will assume his new role as Associate Pastor at St. Bonaventure Parish effective August 1. We will miss him here at St. Michael’s! Thank you Fr. George for your brief ministry here in our parish community, and we wish you well on your new appointment.
Member Engagement Survey (ME-25) opens next week
On June 1-16, St. Michael’s will be employing Gallup’s ME-25 survey to get a collective view of the spiritual health of St. Michael’s. All parishioners ages 18 and older are strongly encouraged to participate in the survey, which only takes about five minutes to complete. You can complete the survey at saintmichael.ca/survey. A printed version of the survey will also be available at the gathering area on the weekend of June 1-2.
Scam Alert! – New
Please be aware that some emails are being sent from scammers claiming to be our bishop, priests, or office staff, asking for money and other information. Names are being pulled from parish and diocesan websites to create fake email (often Gmail) accounts. Please note that at no time will our clergy, religious, or diocesan/ parish staff contact you asking for Google Play cards, iTunes cards or any other form of personal financial assistance.
First Holy Communion – New
There will be children receiving their First Holy Communion this weekend and the next. As a faith community, please pray for them — that their union with our Lord in the Eucharist may lead them to a deeper and lifelong love for him. A big thank you to Maureen and her sacrament preparation volunteers for preparing all the children these past few months!
Moms and Tots
Moms are invited every Friday at 9:45 a.m. for coffee, fellowship, and free play for children. Whether you’re pregnant, an infant, toddler, or your children are in school, moms are welcome to come! Important dates – Monday, May 27: Moms Night Out at 7:30 p.m. featuring a specialized “mommy workout” for all fitness levels. Cost: $5 per person. Name Tag Weekend and Last Pot Luck Sunday- New
Name Tag Weekend will be on June 1-2: be sure to grab a name tag at the gathering area before Mass. Also, join us after the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass on June 2 for an evening of food and fellowship! Our monthly fellowship will be taking a break during the summer, so this will be our last pot luck Sunday until the fall —please bring any food item to share.
St. Michael’s Town Hall
Parishioners are invited to come and hear from Fr. John in-depth information about developments since our last open house in January, a review of 2018 pastoral and financial statistics, and to meet the new Parish Leadership Council members.
Marriage Encounter Drop-In Circle
The next drop-in circle will be on Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. This event is open to all couples who have attended a Marriage Encounter weekend in the past. If you have any questions, please contact Dean and Tammy at email@example.com.
Summer Student Positions at St. Michael’s – New

Confirmation Mass – New
The 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday, June 8, is our Confirmation Mass with Bishop McGrattan. As such, the Mass is expected to be longer than usual. All parishioners are invited to come and pray for all our confirmands as they receive the fullness of the sacraments of initiation.
Pentecost Vigil – New
Jesus tells his disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit: the one who stirs our faith from the sparks of the Resurrection into the flames of Pentecost. On Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m., the Spirit of Truth prayer group invites parishioners to the Pentecost Prayer Vigil. All are welcome.
Knights of Columbus: Pancake Breakfast – New
The Knights will be offering a pancake breakfast on Sunday, June 9, after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses. Free-will offering accepted. All proceeds will be used to support activities and charities within the parish and the Diocese of Calgary.
29th Annual Bishop’s Golf Tournament
This year’s golf tournament in support of the diocese’s Feed the Hungry program will be happening on Monday, June 10, at the Silvertip Resort in Canmore. Funds raised will go towards the program’s unsponsored dinners, ensuring that we can always provide Sunday dinner for FTH’s clients. Grafted In: A monthly talk series with Dr. Don Swenson – New
Join Don Swenson in the monthly talk series Grafted In: Reflections on the Jewish Roots of the Christian-Catholic Tradition and the Relationship Between Gentile and Jewish Believers in Jesus. The sixth and last talk (Discovering the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist and the Return of Jesus) will be on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.
Taste of the World
Taste the flavours of the different countries represented at St. Michael’s during this year’s Taste of the World, happening on Saturday, June 5 after the 5 p.m. Mass. Food tickets will be sold for $1 each. For those who wish to sell food: please sign up at the gathering area (please supply your own flag). VACATION BIBLE Camp
We are now taking in registrations for children ages 5-10 for this summer’s VBS. The camp runs Mon-Fri from 9 a.m. to noon, with the first week on July 8-12 and the second week on July 15-19. Registration is $65: please register your child at the parish office (Mon-Thurs from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and until 4 p.m. on Fridays). We are also in need of teen crew members and adult volunteers to help run our stations. To volunteer, please email Alison at email@example.com.
Ignite Youth Summer Camp – New
Face 2 Face Ministries is bringing the week-long Ignite summer camp to Alberta! When: July 21-26 at Our Lady of the Snows School in Canmore. Cost: $350. This summer camp is for youth in grades 9-12. Limited spots only. For more info or to register, email Nolan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
