We are very excited to be moving forward in achieving the goals and objectives to further realize our Mission and Vision. Thank you to all who came to our recent Open House, visited the Parish Leadership display in the gathering area, and learned more about our Vision. For those of you who are interested in learning more but did not have the opportunity to attend our Open House, watch for another update coming soon.
We are very gratified by the enthusiastic response to our Expression of Interest (EOI) process. More than 80 people have submitted an EOI in one of our new committees, which complement our over 40 existing, vibrant ministries where we already have a strong volunteer commitment. The renewed offering of time and tremendous talent shows that we are indeed a community of generous, intentional disciples, and that we are well on our way to achieving our vision. If you expressed an interest in contributing to one of the committees, please watch your email for further information. -Fr. John
Office Closed on Family Day
Please note that the parish office will be closed on Monday, February 18 for Family Day. However, daily Mass will still be celebrated at 9 a.m. Enjoy the long weekend with family and friends!
Business Manager at St Michael’s
St. Michael’s is looking for a full-time business manager to oversee the efficient management of the business office and operations of St. Michael’s Catholic Community. Tax Receipts – New
Tax receipts for St. Michael’s and SSVP are now available in the gathering area. Please note: any donations made payable to SSVP are receipted by SSVP. Donations to SSVP, but made payable to St. Michael’s, are included in St. Michael’s tax receipt.
Last Year’s Palms – New
Since the palms from last year’s Palm Sunday Liturgy have been blessed, they are now sacramentals which should be treated with respect and never be thrown away. If you’d like to dispose of your palms, please bring them to the church put them in the “old palms” container outside the parish office. Once collected, the palms will be burned to be used this Ash Wednesday.
Host the NET team! – New
We are counting on the hospitality and generosity of our parishioners to host our NET youth missionaries for one- or two-week periods. If you’re interested in becoming a host family, visit the youth table after Mass this weekend or email Nolan at youth@saintmichael.ca.
Women’s Ministry Lenten Retreat – New
All women in the parish are invited to a Lenten retreat on Thursday, February 21, to be led by Fr. George. The topic will be “Three Women at the Well: Lenten Lessons.” The retreat will be at the Day Chapel, beginning at 7 p.m. If you have any questions, please email womensministry@saintmichael.ca.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter – New

Art Walk 2019
Parishioners’ paintings and photography works will be on display in the mezzanine between Masses on the weekend of March 2-3, beginning on Saturday after the 5 p.m. Mass, and until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. All are invited to come and enjoy the display.

Calgary Visit of Cardinal Urosa
Cardinal Jorge Urosa, Archbishop Emeritus of Caracas, Venezuela, will be visiting St. Michael’s on the weekend of March 9-10 sharing his message of hope: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35). Join us on Saturday, March 9 at the 5 p.m. Mass which will be concelebrated by Bishop McGrattan in English, or on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. for Mass in Spanish. Women’s Ministry: 33 Days to Merciful Love
The Women’s Ministry invites you to this study on Fr. Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Merciful Love. This study explores new material on the heart of St. Thérèse of Lisieux’s Little Way, uncovering the power of trust in the face of personal darkness, laying the foundation for a personal consecration to Divine Mercy. Society of St. Vincent de Paul Turns 25 – New
The SSVP’s motto is Serviens in Spe (“Service in Hope”). Christ came to give hope to the poor and expects Vincentians to do the same, making no distinctions of creed, political opinion, health, ethnic or social background, and serving in a spirit of love, humility, compassion, respect, and discretion.
