Share Sunday: Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Keeping our larder well-stocked in the next few months will allow us to continue assisting families in need during the summer break. This weekend, we will be handing out bags for any food items you may want to donate — you can drop off your donations next week at the SSVP donation bin at the gathering area. Thank you for your generosity!

Righteous Sounds of Summer

Start your summer right: The Inspirition Band (Sunday 5 p.m. music ministry) invites everyone to an evening of beautiful music on Tuesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. happening in the mezzanine. All are welcome!

Sandwich Friday – New

Help us make sandwiches for the Drop-In Centre by filling loaves of bread with items such as peanut butter, ham, or turkey. Drop off the prepared sandwiches here at church by 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21. Thanks for your generosity!

Voices of Grief – New

If you are grieving from the loss of a loved, know someone who does, or if you’re interested in knowing how to successfully navigate through grief, you are invited to a free film screening of Voices of Grief: Honoring the Sacred Journey. When: Saturday, June 22 at 9:55 a.m. For more details or to watch the trailer, click here.

Wondering about becoming Catholic? – New

If you (or someone you know) are wondering about becoming Catholic, we’d love to get to know you! Summer is a great time to prayerfully consider taking this step as it gives everyone enough time to determine next steps, whether that be joining the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) in the fall, or signing up for Adult Confirmation. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we’re ready to accompany our friends who are looking into the Catholic faith. To learn more, contact Sandy at sleia@saintmichael.ca or visit saintmichael.ca/cominghome.

Prayer Ministry: How Can We pray for you? – New

Prayer Ministry teams will be available at the Day Chapel following each Mass next weekend (June 22-23) for individuals or families who want to be prayed for.

Moms and Tots: Family Picnic and Summer Activities – New

Moms and Tots’ family picnic/potluck will be on Sunday, June 23 at 1:30 p.m., happening at Shouldice Park (4900 Monserrat Dr. NW). Please RSVP to momsandtots@saintmichael.ca with the number of people attending and what dish you’re bringing. For our full summer schedule, visit saintmichael.ca/momsandtots.

Ordination of Deacon Troy Nguyen – New

It is a blessing to the entire diocese whenever a new priest is ordained to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ. So on Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m., the Diocese of Calgary invites all the faithful to St. Mary’s Cathedral for the priestly ordination of Rev. Mr. Troy Nguyen. Seats may be limited, so please plan to arrive early.

Vacation Bible Camp for Kids – New

The first week of VBC is now full, but we are still accepting registrations for children ages 5-10 for week 2. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon on July 15-19. Registration is $65: please register your child at the parish office (open Mon-Thurs from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and until 4 p.m. on Fridays).

VBC for adults: bringing your kids to VBC? If so, you’re invited to stay and take advantage of this faith formation opportunity for grown-ups, happening Mon-Fri during both weeks of VBS beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be coffee and snacks at each stand-alone session — feel free to attend one or all of the sessions.

Summer Parish Updates – New

  • Eucharistic Adoration: for July and August, Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays will be from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration every first Friday will resume in the fall.
  • Precious Blood: there will be no Precious Blood during Holy Communion at Masses this July and August.
