Bulletin: 5th Sunday of Lent

What you need to know from this weekend’s bulletin:
Masses Cancelled in the Diocese
As you all know, since Tuesday, March 17, all Masses in the Diocese of Calgary have been cancelled until April 5 (incl. Palm Sunday) in response to AHS and the government’s recommendations to combat the spread of COVID-19. An episcopal decree by Bishop McGrattan dispenses Catholics from the Sunday Obligation during this period. We expect to receive an update from the Diocese regarding the celebration of Holy Week and Triduum liturgies sometime this week, so please make sure you’re signed up on Flocknote to get the latest email updates. To sign up, simply visit www.flocknote.com/smcyyc or text “SMCYYC” to 514-900-0130.
While Masses are cancelled, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel remains open for private prayer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Fr. John & Fr. Pilmaiken are also available for Confession and/or spiritual direction Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please use the south entrance doors at all times, as the other doors will be locked. We do ask seniors, those with pre-existing health conditions, and more importantly, individuals who are ill or show symptoms of illness to please remain at home
St. Michael’s Mass Webcast – New
Every day at 12 noon, we will be streaming Mass on our website at saintmichael.ca/Mass. There is also an online form which gives you the opportunity to submit a prayer intention — Fr. John & Fr. Pilmaiken will then offer your petitions during Mass, as we normally do during our Friday morning Mass. In addition, our prayer teams will also be praying for you.
Here is a list of other places where you can stream Mass live:
- 8:30 a.m. Daily Mass from St. Peter’s Church live on their website or via Facebook Live
- 10 a.m. Sunday Mass with Bishop McGrattan live on the Diocese website or via Facebook Live
- Salt + Light TV: daily at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
In Memoriam: Fr. Bernie McCosham, OMI – New
In the charity of your prayers, please remember Fr. Bernie McCosham, OMI who passed away on Saturday, March 21 in Vancouver. Fr. Bernie was Associate Pastor at St. Michael’s back in 1976. If you knew Fr. Bernie and would like to watch his funeral Mass, click here.
Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Bernie O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
