The Glorious Cross

In the Christian tradition, Christ’s passion and death symbolized by the cross is celebrated as a victory over sin and death. This sacrifice on the cross is repeated in a sacramental way with every offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass which marks our Christian worship every Sunday and every day. Our churches feature the Stations of the Cross that surround our worship space as if embracing our entire congregation as we commemorate Christ’s legacy of love and forgiveness.
As Christians, we unite ourselves in the spirit of Christ’s love and forgiveness. We resolve to carry our own crosses rather than carry grudges over the hurts that others have inflicted on us in our lives. We resolve to imitate Christ in His compassion and mercy. We resolve to become other Christs, offering absolution to other enemies and friends who have betrayed us just as Christ has done as He dies on the cross.
Christ’s loving and forgiving words are reverberated in all the liturgical celebrations, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation where we hear the consoling words of Christ through His priests “I absolve you from all your sins…”
We “exalt” the cross by becoming the presence of Christ’s love and forgiveness in our world. We are mandated to repeat with him His forgiving words on the cross in our daily struggle to fight against our human tendency to get even, pout, sulk, or seek sympathy in some form. May Christ’s death on the cross inspire the best in us by making us discover His love and compassion as we put aside hostility and indifference.
As we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, let us identify with Him our own struggles in dealing with our own morality. The cross reminds us of how shattered we are, asking the Lord to strengthen our faith in Him and in ourselves. By embracing the cross, we discover ourselves as partners in dealing with our own mortality.
May the Glorious Cross of Christ unify us as we struggle to give meaning to our own respective crosses. Christ’s glorious cross inspires us to put our faith in the resurrection that gives the ultimate dimension of our instinct for survival.

Healing Lines
God is always willing to forgive all our transgressions and heal us. If we have been the aggressive one in our families we can seek out the resources available in our community and God’s help will support us in our journey. Take responsibility and be the model for your children and others around you. If we, and our children, have been harmed by interpersonal violence, our responsibility is to our and their safety, that is, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Seek help.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word 2025/2026
KIDS’ KINGDOM is pleased to offer a Mass Preparation & Children’s Liturgy of the Word session, every Sunday at 10:30 AM. Sessions include the traditional prayers of the Mass, good music, Church building activities, mini-reflections, and demo’s geared toward young children in K. to Gr. 3 before & during the Liturgy of the Word portion of the Mass. SSVP Share Sunday Food Drive
Please help the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) to provide food hampers to struggling families by participating in our Share Sunday Food Drive. After all masses on Sept 6 & 7, members of SSVP will be handing out food lists, bags, and donation envelopes. Please return your food and financial donations on Sept 13 & 14. Thank you.
A Eucharist Series
A Eucharistic series is scheduled on three consecutive Thursdays, September 18 and 25, and October 2, starting with a Mass at 6pm at the Day Chapel, followed by a presentation on the following themes: Eucharist as Sacrifice, Eucharist as Communion, and Eucharist as Presence. Fr Edmund is our facilitator, who holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (1980) and Master of Arts in Higher Religious Studies (1980) from the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas in Manila. All evenings culminate with a Q&A forum and a reception.
Eucharistic Consecration

Parish Pastoral Council
The Parish Pastoral Council is set to meet on Tuesday, September 30, 7pm at the St Michael’s Room. The council is now composed of the following: Brina D’Souza, Claudia P. Dutoit, Michael Fitzimmons, Keefer Gibson, Deana Helton, Sean Thomas Kelly, Marilyn Nasse (chair), Ken McKinnon, Gabrielle Puhl, Margaret Tapuska (secretary) & Usaze Uwagboe. Michael McGee (Finance chair), Fr Edmund & Fr Kelvin are ex-officio. The council membership has been selected after due consultation and prayerful reflection.
Together in Action (TIA)
This year’s goal is $121,243 and currently, we have reached 63% of this target amount. Thanks to your generosity, we reached this target amount last year. All surplus funds will go to our Building Fund to help pay our loan.
