MINISTRY FAIR THIS WEEKEND
For this weekend, we will be featuring ministries for our fall Ministry Fair. Among those present this weekend are the Catholic Women’s League, Eucharistic Ministers, Hospitality, Knights of Columbus, Knitting Ministry, and Cedars Villa/Wentworth Communion ministers. Come and check out the different booths in the gathering area after Mass to see which ministry you’d be interested to volunteer with.
FATAL FLAWS: FILM SCREENING AND Q&A
St. Michael’s is excited to host a film screening of Fatal Flaws: Legalizing Assisted Death, with a Q&A on the issue by producer-filmmaker Kevin Dunn. All are welcome to this event on Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m. To learn more about the film or to watch the trailer, visit fatalflawsfilm.com.
NFP: WANT A BABY, OR WANT TO WAIT?
Do you want to practice green sex? Are you struggling with porn? Do you want to divorce-proof your marriage? Problems with intimacy? Low fertility? St. Michael’s will be hosting a Q&A forum about Natural Family Planning (NFP) on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. with Dr. Thomas Bouchard, Dr. Chantal Barry, Rikka Borras, Fr. Catch the Fire: Diocesan CWL Workshop – NEW
Catch the Fire is CWL’s new workshop on leadership training. CWL members are encouraged to attend, and non-members are also welcome to come and see what the League is all about. Registration for the workshop is $10 which includes lunch and will be happening at Sacred Heart Church (1307 14 Street SW) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. Catholic Education Sunday
November 4 is Catholic Education Sunday, and it’s an opportunity to support quality Catholic education in our community as well as to ensure that the present and future needs of Catholic education are met. On the weekend of November 3-4, there will be a special collection at each Mass. Your generosity will make a difference for over 56,000 students in CCSD’s 115 schools.
Home Groups Information Night – NEW
You’re invited to come and learn more about home groups at St. Michael’s on Tuesday, November 6 at 7 p.m. Whether you’re interested in starting a group, joining one, or seeking new members, we will be sharing best practices and resources to equip you for a fruitful home group experience.
Righteous Sounds of Fall Concert – NEW
Join The Inspirition Band (music ministry for the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass) for an evening of beautiful music at the Righteous Sounds of Fall concert, happening on Friday, November 9 at the mezzanine. All are welcome.
PRO-LIFE TALK AND SOCIAL
Join Cameron Cote from the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR) on Friday, November 16 at 7 p.m. as he presents on pro-life apologetics from a Catholic perspective, equipping you with the necessary conversational skills to defend life.

60TH ANNIVERSARY PHOTO DIRECTORY: NEW DATES
Having yourself or your family photographed for our new photo directory is entirely free, and families who participate will receive a free copy once it is published. Photography sittings are available on November 7-10, November 15-17 (NEW) and December 6-8 (NEW). SACRAMENTS UPDATE: VOLUNTEERS AND CONFIRMATION REGISTRATION
- Volunteer leaders needed for First Reconciliation: We need volunteer teachers for our brand-new sacrament program this fall and next spring. Training is provided! The sessions will all be on either Saturday mornings OR afternoons (once a month) and you can help with one or all of them. The dates are: October 27, November 25, December 15, January 19, February 23, March 16, April 13, May 4, and May 11. - Confirmation 2019: Confirmation 2019 preparation for students in Grades 6 and up begins this November. Police Checks for Christmas Hamper Delivery – NEW
Our Christmas Hamper Day will be on Monday, December 17. For those who would like to specifically help in delivering hampers to homes, please note that the Diocese’s directive states that anyone who delivers hampers to households must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check (VSPIC). If you’re able to help with delivering hampers and need assistance with the VSPIC process, please contact us at christmashampers@saintmichael.ca. If you already have a VSPIC on file with the parish, please also email us your interest. Thank you!
Creative Arts Studio Time on Wednesdays – NEW
The Creative Arts ministry has an open studio time on Wednesday mornings at 9:45 a.m. and will continue to run until December 5. This is a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to create together. Adult artists of all levels are welcome.
Mass Buddies – NEW
In the next few weeks, we will be launching Mass Buddies as a way for parishioners to be a medic by accompanying visitors, newcomers, non-Catholics, and those coming to Mass alone by knowing each other and sitting togethering during Mass. Watch out for the orange Mass Buddies sign near the Sanctuary and be there prior to Mass so you can pair up with someone who would like to join you and your family.
