Catholic Women’s League: January Meeting

The CWL’s next General Meeting will be on Tuesday, January 8, after the 7 p.m. Mass. Members and all women ages 16 and older are invited. For more information, visit saintmichael.ca/CWL.


The Women’s Ministry invites you to this study on Fr. Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Morning Glory. This is a perfect way to transform your relationship with Christ as you prepare for Marian consecration. When: Thursdays at 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. beginning January 10. Cost: $25 for the book. Moms and Tots

Our Friday morning Moms and Tots group is back on Friday, January 11, after the 9 a.m. Mass. All moms and their little ones are invited to come and join us for faith and fellowship, as we have some exciting things planned for this new year.

Eucharistic Adoration Schedule

Please note the following changes to our Eucharistic Adoration schedule for the month of January (begins at 9:30 a.m. on all Fridays listed): 24-hour Adoration on January 11, and until 10 p.m. on January 18 and 25.


Come and join Oremus on Monday, January 14, at 6 p.m. to pray the Vespers, the evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. If you want to join but cannot make it to church, email Heather and heathermontschilling@gmail.com.

Come and See: Gospel of Luke (Bible Study)

The Gospel of Luke may be very familiar to you, but there is so much more! Make it a new year’s resolution to know the Bible more by joining this Bible study: Monday evenings at 7 p.m. beginning January 14. Cost: $30 for the workbook. To register, visit saintmichael.ca/faithformation.

GriefShare: Have you lost a loved one recently?

The Grief Support ministry invites you to GriefShare: a weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. This program consists of a video seminar, group support discussions, and a personal workbook. Free-will giving/$10 charge for the booklet. Sunday 11 a.m. Hospitality Ministers Needed

Help make St. Michael’s a welcoming place for parishioners and visitors by joining the Sunday 11 a.m. Hospitality Ministry. Volunteers will be assigned to one of four teams that will serve on assigned Sundays. To volunteer, or for more information, visit saintmichael.ca/volunteer.

Interested in Home Groups? Join Discovery

We encourage everyone to come and journey with us through the Discovery faith study prior to launching into home groups. Discovery is a life-changing resource from Catholic Christian Outreach and has helped bring many people to Christ in evangelization settings, both in campuses and parishes around Canada. Marriage Ministry: Book Study

The Marriage Ministry invites seriously-dating, engaged, and married couples to a book study on Dr. Emerson Eggerichs’ Love and Respect, beginning on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m. This study will be happening once a month, and will take place at the homes of those who will be joining. Open House: Strategic Plan

Come to our open house on Wednesday, January 23, and see our Strategic Plan in more detail. Members of the Strategic Leadership Team will be available to answer questions, and parishioners will have the opportunity to learn more about the different committees you can participate in. 60th Anniversary: Youth Mass

As part of our 60th Anniversary celebrations, we’re inviting all youth to the youth Mass on Saturday, January 26 at 5 p.m., which will be coinciding with the World Youth Day celebrations in Panama. Reel Stories: An Evening with L’Arche and Michael MacDonald

Join the L’Arche Calgary community in welcoming Michael McDonald to share his journey of filming people with intellectual disabilities around the world. During this evening, there will be a screening of a short film as well as discussions/Q&A, followed by cookies and refreshments.

Marriage Ministry Event with Bishop McGrattan

Married couples are invited on Saturday, February 9, for A Blessing for Married Couples presided by Bishop McGrattan. Social to follow with snacks, refreshments, cash bar, and live jazz music. Tickets are $20/couple and can purchased at the parish office, or online ($21 incl. processing fee).

Coldest Night of the Year – New

Your participation in Coldest Night of the Year will support those experiencing homelessness here in Calgary. When: Saturday, February 23 at 4 p.m, happening at Eau Claire Market. Funds raised will support Feed the Hungry and affordable housing through KAIROS Calgary. Raise $150 or pay the $25 registration fee. For more information, visit cnoy.org/calgarydowntown.

Art Walk 2019: Callout for Artists

We invite artists and photographers to come and register to showcase their work at this spring’s Art Walk, happening on the weekend of March 2-3. Deadline to register is February 4. For information on how to register and for submission requirements, click here.

St. Michael’s is excited to host the Theology of the Body conference happening on March 8-9, with speakers including Christopher West, Sr. Helena Burns, and Mike Mangione, among many others.
